Moetzah - the Rabbinic Council

The Moetzah, the Rabbinic Council of Progressive Rabbis in the region, maintains religious standards and ensures we respond effectively and appropriately to contemporary social and religious issues. The Progressive rabbis in our region share a commitment to creating consistent, meaningful religious practice. The rabbis of the Moetzah also provide support to congregations in the region without a rabbi.

The UPJ provides support to the Moetzah and its members and fosters a positive and respectful relationship between them and the leaders of our communities and congregations.  It provides loans and grants to people accepted in approved institutions for training as rabbis, cantors and communal professionals.
