Each year, Mazon chair Rabbi Gary Robuck asks our communities to donate to the Pesach Appeal to raise awareness around the Seder table of the importance our people attach to ma’achil re’evim - feeding the hungry.
Rabbi Kim Ettlinger, chair of the Rabbinic Council of the Union for Progressive Judaism (Moetzah) and Rabbi Jeffrey B Kamins, chair of the Masorti (Conservative) Council of Australia, joined the UPJ in expressing support for marriage equality in the attached press release.

The UPJ is excited to announce that Rabbi Gilad Kariv, President and CEO of the Israel Movement for Reform and Progressive Judaism, will be our guest this November. Our worldwide Progressive community is fortunate that Rabbi Kariv brings his experience as a lawyer to his role at the IMPJ; he has been at the forefront of efforts to pressure Prime Minister Netanyahu's Government to honour its agreement to establish an egalitarian prayer space at the Kotel and to fight against the Conversion Bill that has been proposed by the Shas Party. Rabbi Kariv will speak in Melbourne (1-4 November) and Sydney (5-9 November) to provide updates on the Progressive Movement's challenges and successes in Israel, and will share specific insights about Israel's Progressive congregations - the fastest growing region in the world - with UPJ presidents and leadership during the Gold Coast Gathering (10-12 November). Stay tuned for more information and dates!
