The UPJ received the shocking news that Temple Sinai in Wellington New Zealand was defaced with swastikas on 23 January. Temple Sinai president Matthew Smith said: "While it may be a random act of anti-Semitism, with the upcoming United Nations International Holocaust Remembrance Day on 27 January and the Fifth World Holocaust Forum, it does not seem entirely coincidental."
