Temple Sinai member Avi Duckor-Jones won the title of New Zealand's first "sole survivor" on Survivor New Zealand. Avi's mum, JoEllen Duckor, who serves as the Mashpiah for Temple Sinai said: "Avi went into the game with the intention of playing with integrity (and making his mother proud)."
"Avi won the game thanks to his morals say his backers on the jury." This quote from the announcement of his win says it all. Avi played with integrity, making a genuine connection with each of the players. Avi' mum JoEllen Duckor said: "There were plenty of opportunities to better his chances by going against his word, which is how the game is usually played. But Avi went into the game with the intention of playing with integrity (and with making his mother proud), and he certainly did that! Avi will use some of the prize money to support the students and the school he taught at in Ghana. What can I say? He is a true mensch."
