North Shore Temple Emanuel

North Shore Temple Emanuel has served the Sydney North Shore community for 60 years as a Progressive, egalitarian congregation that celebrates the spirit and contribution of each and every member. We are a diverse community, hailing from many countries, disparate backgrounds and different stages of life, but we are all united in our strong desire to be part of a vital and vibrant Jewish community on the North Shore.

Led by Senior Rabbi Nicole Roberts, and Cantor Toby Glaser, NSTE has become an extended family for so many who have entered our doorways.  Our expression of Judaism is woven from the many strands that make up the continuum of Jewish life: modern young families who attend our “Growing Souls” Shabbat; primary school aged children in our Hebrew & Religion School K-7 program and in the Netzer youth movement; our B’mitzvah students and Teen Torah Tag Team; our “Gen X” Tribe, Inner West NSTE Tribe, Water Tribe, and Brunch Tribe; our adult learners and conversion students in our Introduction to Judaism and Taste of Torah classes; our Boomers & Beyond group; and more.  NSTE is always bustling with activity, from the volunteer Choir to our Care Team, our Shabbat Dinners and our jazz concerts, our gardening team looking after our grounds and our social action group, “Jews for Social Action” (JSA).

NSTE, one of the largest Progressive congregations in Australia, is fortunate to be led by spiritual leaders whose intellectual, interpersonal, and collaborative abilities inspire our individual and communal engagement with Judaism and each other every day.
