ACT-JC announces Rabbi Robuck as Education/Program Director
The ACT Jewish Community has announced that Rabbi Gary Robuck has been recruited to serve as the Community’s Education and Program Director, as well as the rabbi of the Progressive kehilla of the ACT-JC. This marks the first time in its history that the ACT-JC has welcomed a Progressive Rabbi onto its leadership team.
The ACT Jewish Community is unique in that we have both Orthodox and Progressive Kehillot working harmoniously together within one community, sharing simchas and events, whilst maintaining separate services for Shabbat and chaggim.
Rabbi Robuck will share his time between Sydney and Canberra during his tenure, with regular attendance in Canberra for educational, religious and community events. His term will commence officially in the last week of January 2024, but R Robuck is expecting to put in a few days before his official start to familiarise himself with the position and to get organised for 2024.
The Rabbi’s knowledge and experience, his liturgical and musical skills, along with his respect for a broad range of Jewish belief and practice, will provide the community with valuable, fresh leadership in many different areas of formal and informal Jewish education and communal development. He will be active in leading community education – both for adults and children – and will work with bar and bat mitzvah students, as a well as leading services for the chaggim and High Holy Days for the Progressive kehilla.
