UIA Progressive Emergency Appeal
Through the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism, our partner in Israel, we are launching a campaign to raise funds to help them provide immediate care, spiritual grounding, and practical support.
You have the opportunity to help them and make an immediate difference.
Your funds will go to:
Congregational & Community Support A$84,000 ($55,000)
Our rabbis are providing support in Reform congregations across Israel. Our part-time rabbis and community coordinators are working far beyond their funded hours to lead spiritual programming, responsive activities for all ages, and meaningful virtual Jewish communal gatherings. Throughout the country, we are also providing support for families under mental strain, developing and broadcasting activities for children left without formal frameworks, elderly residents coping in isolation, families of reservists.
With 28% of Israelis lacking access to a safe room or shelter, we are helping those in unsafe housing temporarily relocate and when possible, opening our synagogues for local residents to come for a safe shelter during attacks.
Mechina Program Continuity: A$15,000 ($10,000)
Our Mechina program in Holon and Jaffa – serving pre-army young adults – has just under two weeks remaining in the academic year. We are urgently securing alternative locations with proper shelter so they can safely complete the year together.
Bayit B’Kehilla: A$77,000 ($50,000)
Independent Living for Young Adults with Cognitive Disabilities to provide for additional professional staff to ensure quality care and allow for essential staff rest and for psychologists and mental resilience experts to support both residents and staff during this high-pressure time.
Support for Immigrants and Refugees from the FSU A$92,000 ($60,000)
Many Russian and Ukrainian speaking immigrants and refugees are experiencing this war while still grappling with the trauma of both the Russia-Ukraine conflict and Israel’s recent Iron Swords war. We are providing culturally sensitive services, emotional support, practical guidance for navigating life during wartime, and coping strategies, access to community resources, and group programming.
Keren B’Kavod A$69,000 ($45,000)
Targeted activities for immediate needs.
These include:
(i) Supplies– Organizing and distributing materials and supplies for immediate needs and activities for children and families in our communities and for evacuees from the Eshkol region currently in Tel Aviv
(ii) Women’s Circles – Individual visits to participants of the Women’s Circles groups, along with distribution of games and creative activity kits.
