UIA Progressive Appeal 2026

Following a comprehensive review of the UIA Progressive Appeal — including independent consultation, community feedback, and sector research — we are refreshing the Appeal to ensure it is well positioned for the years ahead.

This updated approach responds to changes in the philanthropic landscape and strengthens our focus on transparency, impact, and community engagement. What remains constant is our commitment to supporting the vital work of our partners in Israel.

A National Committee has been established to provide strong governance and broaden participation in the Appeal. The committee brings together senior leaders from across the Progressive movement in Australia, including representatives from our congregations and communal organisations.

Our mission is captured in our byline: “Don’t just give to Israel — help shape Israel.”
Our support reflects Progressive Jewish values and focuses on practical, values-driven impact. We invest in initiatives that promote pluralism, equality, shared society, and compassionate support for vulnerable communities. These projects strengthen social resilience, leadership, and inclusion across Israeli society.

Through this renewed framework, the Appeal aims to deepen impact, strengthen partnerships, and build a sustainable future for this important work.

The new model is project driven across four key categories:

Pluralism: To support the work of the Israel Movement foe Progressive Judaism.

Fair Society: To support the work of the Israel Religious Action Centre

Shared Society: To support projects that bring Jews and Arabs together and encourage co-existence.

Caring Society: Projects which help the welfare of Israelis with particular emphasise on support of refugees and Jewish communities facing difficult circumstances.

Within each category, the committee has selected projects that we believe will make a difference “on the ground”
